Shadowood residents want structural inspect

On Aug. 16, KCRG-TV9 did an excellent piece on the outside conditions of our apartment complex, Shadowood. The condition of the sidewalk and driveway are of concern to the residents.
However, the residents are also concerned about the structural integrity and safety of the apartment buildings. There are other issues about the foundation's stability due to deep and lengthy foundation cracks, cracked and separating walls and corners, uneven levels of the floors, ground seepage through the floor and mold in walls.
Residents have been informed by former maintenance workers for the complex that the land on which Shadowood stands was a landfill. There are concerns that the fill has deteriorated and the ground is settling.
We have contacted the property management, the city inspector and Iowa Realty (appointed receiver of the property, we were notified) about the situation and have requested an inspection of the interior of our apartment, to no avail, other than Iowa Realty in a letter saying it is looking into doing repairs to the sidewalks and driveway.
We are only asking that someone inspect our building to let us know if it is safe enough for us to live in.
