Seniors shown care and compassion

To the editor:
We are very fortunate in our society as we age and those we hold so dearly do so as well, to have great caregivers in our community. Recently, I discovered this firsthand from one such experience.
I accompanied my mother, a resident of West Ridge Care Center, on a field trip to Zeppelins Bar & Grill. This establishment is one you might not typically expect to see this group of people. Actually I arrived as the bus full of seniors was unloading. Each resident was handled with care and compassion as if they were the only one on the trip. From the time Becky and Mike of WRCC skillfully transported each down the aisle to the lift platform for unloading, until they were greeted and seated by McKeon our host and Sara our waitress, the event was superb.
By the look on their faces and pleasant interactions of all, it became apparent to me - age truly is just a number. And, oh yes, I should mention, our group consisted of nine wheelchair attendees and one gentleman in a walker. Hats off to Julie, the 'entertaining” social director of WRCC, and the entire staff of Zeppelins for the good food, great service and welcoming attitude.
