Senators shoot down pipeline amendment
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Mar. 18, 2012 12:34 am
The Senate recently voted down 65 to 33 an amendment for the Keystone XL Pipeline in which all crude shipped and refined through the pipeline stay in the United States. It also required American workers' iron and steel be used to construct the pipeline. The defeat left the original plan by TransCanada Corp intact. So much for American-made.
Thanks, Sen. Chuck Grassley, and the rest of those Senate members who voted no. So much for lowering gas prices and job creation! Oh, by the way, Sen. Tom Harkin backed the amendment.
