Sen. Kennedy’s exit a signal to pass reform
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Sep. 6, 2009 5:31 pm
Kathleen Parker made an excellent point in her Sept. 2 column. She wrote that conservatives would have found a way to forgive Ted Kennedy if, as recompense for his sins, he had crusaded against abortion and same-sex marriage rather than health care for all and other liberal causes such as racial equality, gender equality, gay rights, help for the poor and social programs that help us all. I think Kennedy chose the right causes to fight for and I admire him tremendously.
As Parker also wrote, conservatives are more likely to see the hand of God in events. Therefore, Kennedy's exit was timed as a clear signal to America to do the right thing and pass health care reform.
