Selling city parks would be loss for City

In reference to Brad Fisher's July 3 letter urging the city to sell off parts of Ellis Park, including the golf course, and a section of the Twin Pines Golf Course to raise money for the city.
People of Cedar Rapids, do not let the city sell off park area. I went to Ellis Park for the ski show and fireworks Sunday night. How many of you were there? I saw great numbers of people. Do you want this to be lost? The city parks department makes a great deal of its monies from the golf courses. Do you want this to be gone? It will affect all the parks. Once it is lost, it will be gone forever.
It wasn't very long ago the city put a great deal of money into refurbishing the Ellis Golf Course. Now they would just have you waste your tax dollars and sell off this course. This wasteful attitude is nothing new for our city council, proven by flood recovery by paying more than commercial properties are worth.
If you want to save money, get responsible people to run our city government and not waste tax dollars by projects such as buying hotels that never will make any money. Stop our city from selling off what we already have. It would be a great loss.
