No, Secretary of State Paul Pate, you should not be needing to thank us ('Thank you, Iowans for voting,” June 16). It is us, the voters of Iowa, who need to thank you. You and your staff realized that with the Trump pandemic you needed to facilitate voting by Iowans in a safe and responsible manner. You and county auditors from around the state made that happen with the largest number of voters ever exercising their duties as citizens. You proved that it could be done successfully and fairly without fraud.
However, it is unfortunate that the majority of the Iowa Legislature of your party who have, in their Capitol dome wisdom, decided to hamper your ability to perform your duties similarly in the upcoming fall election. What a shame. So, thank you!
