Science dictates when a person ‘exists,’ not us

Regarding the March 23 letter to the editor (“Personhood argument on abortion not logical” by Jordan Goforth), there is a simple problem with the definition given for a “person.”
The first entry in the dictionary for “person” is “human being.”
Science defines each of us as human beings at conception with our unique DNA profile. Regardless of the stage of development, we are all humans, people.
History shows us clearly that every eugenic and genocidal movement has begun with people arbitrarily determining who should live and who should die. They have only been destructive.
Will we never learn that we should protect human life rather than create reasons to eliminate it?
