School choice brings competition

As a retired public and private school teacher, I believe school choice is innovative and a great idea.
We know that no two students are alike and everyone learns differently. For this reason, we need to choose a school according to the school environment, curriculum, resource books, and size of student body.
My wife and I were both educators, and we decided to have our children attend a private school in the early years and home-school our children in the latter years. All five of our children performed well in college and are active productive citizens.
Whether the school choice is public, private, charter, or home-school, parents have the best understanding of what is best for their child and where they can best succeed. One size does not fit all.
The best aspect about school choice is that it will encourage the various schools within a region to compete for parents trust, and respect. The cream always rises to the top and so will the school that respects parent's authority, staff and student body.
When a student succeeds, we all succeed! If we truly want what is best for the child, school choice is the best answer.
I want to thank everyone who supported school choice and worked hard to see it pass into law. Thank you, Gov. Reynolds, for signing The Student First Act into law!
