Saving the turtles helps save the oceans

Turtles are in danger of becoming extinct. What does this mean for us? Turtles are responsible for maintaining the ecosystem of the ocean, vacuum-cleaning the bottom of the ocean floor and allowing the other oceanic species to flourish.
Turtles are in danger mainly from the actions of humans who see turtles as a means to satisfy their wants - mostly as food or as a source of income for poachers who steal their eggs, shells, or other organs for which there is a market.
Costa Rica has dedicated many kilometers of its beaches to turtle parks to try and keep these turtles safe from their enemies. These sites are worked by volunteer students who spend their time there in dedication to the turtles - patrolling the beaches at night to keep the female turtles from poachers, helping newborn turtles make their way back to the ocean, tagging turtles to keep counts on them and more.
Saving the turtles saves the ocean.
