Saving 1 life makes traffic cameras worth it

Iowa lawmakers again are setting sights on traffic cameras because the American Civil Liberties Union presented the governor with more than 10,000 signatures in support of the ban.
I am not for the ban or for the state to control them. City leaders should set the fines and have control. As far as being fair, is going through a red light fair to drivers who obey the laws?
I drove in Cedar Rapids for six years, five days a week, every morning for a car dealership. I was in three accidents, none my fault. One was a hit from the driver side, a person went through a stop sign. The other two I was hit from the behind while stopped at a red light. If I had not been there, the other car would have gone through the red light. I saw drivers go through a red light two to three times a week.
If the cameras save one life, they are worth it. Law abiders, speak up.
