Rotate proposed clinic; expand art fest area
The Gazette Opinion Staff
May. 27, 2010 12:53 am
The May 9 Gazette front page showed an aerial view of the proposed Physician's Clinic of Iowa. Rotating the five proposed centers 90 degrees, locating them between Second and Third avenues and between 10th and 12th streets, swapping location with the parking lot, would eliminate the need to close Second Avenue.
In the May 13 Gazette Accent section, 302 artists were denied an opportunity to exhibit at the Marion Arts Festival because of limited space at Marion Square Park. Let's try a little harder. Block off 10th Street from Seventh Avenue to Fifth Avenue. Block off Sixth Avenue from 10th Street to at least 13th Street. Use the blocked-off streets, Marion library's west parking lot and north lawn, the parking lot east of the library, south side of the city park, and Walgreen's south parking lot for art exhibits.
Let those who attend the Arts Festival be the jurors with their pocketbooks.
