Roosevelt Elementary is buried treasure
The Gazette Opinion Staff

Earlier in the year, I suggested that Iowa Citians bribe the Regina Education Center to offer the Iowa City Community School District $1 for Roosevelt Elementary, which the school board does a fine job of maligning in its five-year plan.
Having bribed them twice, Regina trustees must think I'm a nut. But I am fool enough to believe that the charming little brick pile can be acquired and restored to its former self, and there is merit in doing so.
St. Adalbert's in Cleveland, Ohio, specializes in scholastic worst cases, poor non-Catholic blacks, public school rejects and crack babies. A follow-up study showed that all alumni are in the work force or college.
Conscript Iowa City clergyman Rudolph T. Jaurez to expound in The Gazette on the theme of purchasing the field where the treasure is buried, and I believe Iowa Citians and others will seize the opportunity.
