Romney’s words empty; Obama achieves goals
The Gazette Opinion Staff

I listened to Mitt Romney's campaign speech on April 24 and it was probably one of his best speeches. But, like his past comments, it lacked substance. It reminded me of the scene in “My Fair Lady” when Eliza Doolittle says, “Words, words, words, I'm so sick of words ... Show me!” Clichés are like saying you are for motherhood and apple pie. It sounds great but doesn't suggest any concrete actions.
President Obama has shown action despite inheriting extreme debt, wars and a crashing economy. With a polarized Congress, the president has achieved goals he campaigned upon. We are out of Iraq, have a health care law, support new clean energy, reduced oil imports, saved the auto industry and have more support for women.
The president and Democrats are protecting the middle class, not refusing to work together. Support them.
