Rodeos are cruel, abusive to animals
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Jan. 27, 2014 3:16 pm
Rodeo is a spectacle of abuse, a display of human domination over animals. Electric prods, spurs and bucking straps are used to irritate and enrage animals to make them buck and appear to be wild. In calf roping, the calf is “clotheslinesd” while running full speed. Then he/she is slammed to the ground and hogtied. Many injuries occur to the animals, including some deaths.
When they can no longer “perform,” the animals are discarded, often being sent to slaughter. Just Google “rodeo abuse” and what I have said will be quite obvious.
It is my hope that our community will face the reality of rodeos and no longer support them.
