I am writing to express my concern that U.S. Rep. Rod Blum has not held a public town hall meeting in more than a year.
We are living in an abnormal and unsettling time. Since town halls have not been part of Blum's agenda, he needs to understand this new era of political misinformation requires increased communication with constituents.
Iowa's 1st Congressional District is an engaged and enlightened commonwealth, whether Rep. Blum likes it or not. We, the people, demand his presence at public meetings to discuss our expectations and opinions as well as to hear his opinions and positions on the issues.
Rep. Blum, you work for us. Town hall meetings are part of your job and you owe it to your constituents to show up and engage in conversation. You are a public official, this is your job. Do it.
