Roads need resurfaced, not patched

One example of our city's pothole problem is the entirety of Forest Drive SE and Cottage Grove Road SE from First Avenue to 34th Street SE.
These two streets have been patched and patched. These roads resemble goat paths more than streets, and they need to be resurfaced, not patched again.
In Mayor Ron Corbett's State of the City speech, he compared Cedar Rapids to a race car on a curve, ready to hit the gas and make its move. This cannot happen because cars cannot drive more than 2 mph on our roads or they risk being jostled to death or swallowed by a pothole. Mayor Corbett, your sales pitch for a 20-year penny sales tax didn't go anywhere with me because of the current deteriorating condition of our infrastructure.
What is the plan to fix our current infrastructure woes? You want more money from your already overburdened, taxpaying citizens?
