Road condition more important than politics
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Apr. 2, 2014 2:25 pm
The Iowa Legislature hasn't passed a gas tax increase. The media will be reporting closed country roads and impassable bridges because of lack of funding Iowa's rural infrastructure.
The too-proud Iowa Legislature is concerned about an election year approaching and the Tea Party says “No tax increases.” The gas tax hasn't increased for 25 years and the stagnation of our state seems to be of no concern. The only reason we had decent roads and bridges in the first place was people in the past cared.
Do the right thing and send legislators a wake-up call.
