Revenue only reason for traffic cameras

To the editor:
Let's cut to the chase here. The reason Mayor Ron Corbett and the City Council don't want to comply with what the Department of Transportation is telling them regarding the traffic cameras (yet want us to comply with directives because that's what citizens are supposed to do) has zero to do with safety. They don't want to lose their revenue stream because that helps pay their salary. On Interstate 380 at the S-curve, a camera is going to have little to do with safety.
We're not stupid, do not dribble in our ears and tell us it's raining. You don't want to lose money, that's why you won't do as you're told by the DOT. Remember, you're elected into your position. It isn't right to tell people who elect you that they have to follow the law and then you turn around and defy things handed down to you. It's hypocritical. Most voters do not want to elect hypocrites.
Note to future mayoral and council hopefuls, I think you'll have an easier time getting elected especially if you say that you'll follow what the DOT says.
