Response shows effort to oust police officer
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Aug. 20, 2011 10:47 am
An officer is photographed sleeping on the job; police refused to give his name and tried to insinuate the photo might have been Photoshopped. They said he was punished but wouldn't tell the public what that entailed.
Next we have an officer driving his K-9 police unit to a bar to party with two women. Patrons reported it was obvious he had been drinking. Not a lot of information available on that one either.
Both of these officers were men.
Then a female officer tries to rescue two obviously at-risk dogs and she is arrested and her name given immediately as well as her unpaid suspension status. Sounds like someone at Cedar Rapids Police Department has an ax to grind with this officer and are using this as an excuse to get rid of a 14-year veteran police officer.
