To the editor:
A test of the local demand for a casino at which smoking is prohibited is available now. It is a short drive on interstate highways to Jumer's Casino in Rock Island. A quick look at Jumer's parking lot will tell if Jumer's is attracting significant patronage from Eastern Iowa. Macau also provides a useful illustration.
Major U.S.A. casino companies have been operating in Macau since 2003. Smoking restrictions imposed on Macau casinos in 2014 have contributed to the first revenue declines seen there since U.S. companies entered the market.
