Republicans put America’s financial stability on the line
The Gazette Opinion Staff

Republicans decided to put America's financial stability on the line by attempting to repeal Obamacare and circumvent what both a national election and the Supreme Court confirmed as essential to democratic governance - majorities rule/adjudicated law is settled law. Three questions.
What is health care insurance?
l System designed to defray medical costs.
l System designed to ensure corporations billions in profit.
Who gets health care insurance?
l A right for every citizen.
l A privilege for those who can afford.
Do Republicans hate Obamacare more than they love America?
Forty-five thousand Americans die each year because of not having that right/privilege - 15 times more than died on 9/11. Will Republicans be held accountable if they do with health care what they did with Social Security and Medicare? They used the socialism card to scare us into believing we would sink into the abyss if those safety nets were passed. In addition, conservatives were against the 1965 Voting Rights Act. Today, they revert to the same playbook. Obamacare is socialism. They attempt to diminish voting rolls in the hopes that there will be fewer people voting, making it easier to manage results.
Legislation intended to help the masses brings out the worst in conservatives? Conservatives paid a political price in the 1960s and they do not acknowledge that doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome is not only insane but costs politically. Have they learned from history? Is that why they're intent on making it harder to vote?
