Republicans champion what they once opposed

Government takeover is destroying America! Wake up! It's the end of the world as we know it! So says Gary Rees in his Nov. 22 letter.
We've heard all this before. The Republican party once opposed Social Security, saying it would be the end of America, but today you can't turn around without running into a Republican at a microphone who insists he's Social Security's champion.
Republicans likewise once proclaimed that Medicare would be the end of America, and now ... well, same thing.
Today's Republicans spend all day telling us that the health insurance reform bill will be the end of America. Gee, poor America - so many “ends.”
