Republicans are the ones defunding law enforcement

State Sen. (and former deputy sheriff) Kevin Kinney is right about Iowa's Republican legislators getting ready to 'defund the police” regarding speed cameras. But there's even more to this story. Over the years, our Republican legislators have skeletonized the Iowa State Patrol and reduced funding of prisons and our judicial system to a bare minimum. They're experts at defunding other things, too: like our roads and bridges, schools and universities, parks and natural resources. The results of this systematic defunding have mostly gone to benefit the super rich and out-of-state corporations. Voters looking for a better state should 'defund” the Republicans at the next election.
