Republican leadership is costing Iowans dearly

Over the last three years, high profile cases have cost Iowa taxpayers millions. Money that could be spent on our schools, reducing tuition rates at Iowa's state universities, expanding funding for mental health care, or cleaning up our polluted waterways to name a few.
And, this cost is expected to rise. Chris Godfrey sued the state for discrimination and is seeking $4.1 million for fees and costs. The cost of Branstad's lawyers is near $2 million.
And, let's not forget former DHS leader Jerry Foxhoven who has stated he is seeking $2 million for wrongful termination.
So, not only are taxpayers footing the bill for lawsuits, we are paying the price because this money cannot be used to help Iowans make improvements to our state. Iowans can't afford GOP leadership.
