Replace state senators who don’t value life
The Gazette Opinion Staff

My friend, Colleen Pasnik, was honored by Gov. Terry Branstad with an appointment to the Iowa Board of Medicine but the sitting state senators blocked the appointment because of “her association with anti-abortion activists” (Waterloo Courier, April 13).
Two thirds of the votes were needed and there were 29 votes for and 18 against her confirmation.
Since the Board of Medicine undoubtedly exists for the welfare of the health of Iowans, it would seem that a person who has a long history of championing life issues would be a valuable asset to the state. Apparently the 18 senators have very different values. Those 18 senators, all Democrats, need to be replaced in November.
