To the editor:
I hope people call Rep. Rod Blum at (202) 225-2911 and thank him for being one of the 25 out of 246 Republicans who voted against John Boehner for House Speaker, making Blum's vote for the people of Iowa and not for the party.
People should call their representatives and let them know how they feel when they take a stand. Blum's campaign stated that he wanted to go to Washington and fight for the people, not the good old boy network, and he is off to a great start. This is one way to get things changed in Washington. The other way is to call for a Convention of States. To sign the petition go to: http://www.conventionofstates.com/
In the lame-duck session, Boehner helped Obama push through a 1,774 page $1.1 trillion spending bill. Not one member of the House of Representatives had time to read the bill before it passed. This bill enables most of Obama's progressive agenda items, including Obamacare and executive amnesty. Boehner has been ineffective in opposing Obama's agenda since becoming speaker in 2010. On Nov. 5, 2010, Boehner had an article in the Wall Street Journal on the priorities of a speaker. Here are some excerpts: No earmarks, let Americans read bills before a vote, no more bills written behind closed doors.
Democrats are killing the American dream at a rabbit's pace and the Republicans at a turtle's pace. Let's stand for our children's future and America. Not a party.
