Remind youths of risks of smokeless tobacco
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Aug. 20, 2011 12:03 am
Thank you, Coach Kirk Ferentz, for your comment regarding the emphasis the writer (Aug. 6 story) put on the fact that “Norm Parker was a one-footed, tobacco-chewing football curmudgeon” with a tin of Copenhagen in his golf cart. When told about the tobacco tin, Ferentz replied, “He did? Aw jeez. I can't believe that. That stuff's not good for you.”
Please persevere in sending the message to our young people, and all ages, that these products are very harmful. The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute says “smokeless tobacco is as risky to you as smoking cigarettes.”
