Remember to tip for quality services

I recently had occasions to visit all three major medical facilities in Cedar Rapids. All three offer free valet services, which I needed. I always try to tip people who offer quality services for not much pay. I noticed, though, that not many people using the valets seem to tip.
These folks greet your car, assist with wheelchairs if necessary, park your car, retrieve it when you are ready and help patients get back into the car when assistance is needed. And, if it's snowing, they handle that too.
I realize visiting doctors and hospitals are traumatic events with costs involved. But I strongly believe a dollar, two or five are justified for the valets who are providing valuable services. I don't know how much they are paid but I bet it's not much.
By the way, my recognition and appreciation for the high quality medical services available in our area is enormous. Thanks to all who strive to keep us healthy - including the valets.
Finally, I don't believe discrete 'tips appreciated” signs would be deemed offensive.
