Mothers have a special gift. They can see and hear how you feel from the moment you are born. An unconditional love.
Then reality sets in. You are separated from your mother and you are required to develop your mental abilities by attending school. 'Cleanses the mind” is a statement that was thought to be required for a person to have an emotional balance and good physical health. It was a way of thinking to overcome suppressed emotions, by the philosopher Aristotle, born in 384 B.C.
Are we taught in school that we are responsible for our thoughts, feelings and actions? No. For over 40 years, we have had cognitive psychology, research to explain how our left and right brain works and develops.
Close your eyes and think of the happiest day of your life for five minutes. Notice how good you feel. It is your brain, responsible for the feeling. It is OK to be serious in school and at work. It is important to pay attention to learn, instead of day dreaming.
People committing murder, suicide, bullying, etc., were not taught how to deal with their emotions.
On Mother's Day, thank your mother for caring for you. If you are a mother, become aware of your emotions and the emotions of your family, friends and strangers. If they are sad or mad ask them if something is bothering them. It is a gift you can give and receive every day of the year. And smile.
