Religion talks love and kindness

To the letter writer of a June 7 letter (Ben Smith, “Lawmakers need to stop relying on religion”): You have misunderstood religion. It is our only guide to decency and morality.
If you study the Bible, it talks about kindness and love; those are timeless truths. When our culture stops believing in love and kindness, we have lost our humanity for a new paradigm that is unkind and unloving.
So I plan to stay with the old belief of love and kindness and justice that was taught 2,000 years ago. I resent people who do not teach love and kindness and justice in the church and outside of the church, but I don't plan to change my belief in those truths one bit.
