Religion should not have been focus of ceremony

On Sept 11, 2001, it was Islam, but any religion misinterpreted, used for evil purpose or as a political tool, is wrong.
Another example of improper use of religion, this time multidenominational, was at the Cedar Rapids 9/11 ceremony. It should have been a remembrance for the dead but the number of victims was stated only once, no names, with a circle of hand-holding, recognition of religious leaders and a Hebrew chant.
Perhaps, instead, recognize our firefighters and police officers or the Army Reserve unit that just returned. Sept. 11 is a day to remember a life-changing event and celebrate its heroes. The only non-religious speaker was a young woman whose focus was how she has been bullied for her religion. I'm sorry she's felt that pain.
But I think we can all agree that a ceremony for a horrific event, perpetrated by zealots, is not the time to scold about tolerance toward the perceived pain-causing religion. Less time on respect (for Islam) - instead reflect (on the heroes) and remember (the dead).
I am respectful of your message but saddened about the day's agenda.
