Religion should be last concern for voters
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Jul. 1, 2011 10:59 am
Mitt Romney faces a possible problem because of his religious beliefs. I hope President Obama wins another term. However, I find it rewarding and refreshing a politician like Romney stands by his religion. As we hear the embarrassing and hurtful stories about some politicians, we should feel someone puts religion first, indicating they can be truthful and trusted.
Rep. Anthony Weiner, a soon-to-be father, resigns over sexting to other women.
Former presidential candidate John Edwards faces legal consequences because of his mistress and their baby.
Former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger of California fathers a child with his housekeeper.
Former N.Y. Gov. Eliot Spitzer, married with children, publicly describes his mistress as his “soul mate.”
Makes us wonder in how many ways our politicians have betrayed the voters. Being concerned about a politician's religion should be the least of our concerns.
