Rein in spending
May. 30, 2010 12:39 am
Who said employees could keep our money?
On the front page of the May 14 Wall Street Journal was an article of some note: “Congress reins in perks for travel.”
The story continued: “House leaders are revamping the rules for lawmakers and aides who travel overseas on official government business, forbidding them to fly business class on shorter trips,” and here is the real killer, “use taxpayers funds to buy gifts or pocket unspent cash.”
Who in heaven's name ever authorized stealing from the taxpayers by government employees in the first place? Many of you would like to blame President George W. Bush and perhaps President Barack Obama but I would guess it's been going on a great deal longer.
It is now time to throw them all out. I for one would enjoy some new, possibly honest, amateurs who might just be able to tell right from wrong.
