Regulation: Smothering unless you need it
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Oct. 24, 2011 12:17 pm
How interesting to see two headlines on the same page of The Gazette on Oct. 6 that were so related.
One, “Golding: Less red tape would mean more jobs,” reports that the Republican candidate for the special state Senate election complaining of the financial burden of regulations and her guest, Ann Romney, wife of the presidential candidate, saying, “Regulation is smothering us, smothering America.”
Above that article was “Miscarriage linked to listeria outbreak,” which reports on part of a listeria outbreak that caused an Iowa woman to miscarry.
Just what do these people think regulation is for? It is easy to complain about too much regulation until the lack of regulation causes a mishap. Then you blame the government. How convenient and how cynical. When you see the two articles together you realize how wrong these people are.
