Red Bull soldiers deserve stamp in honor
The Gazette Opinion Staff
May. 9, 2011 1:35 pm
The April 24 Gazette had excellent coverage of the memorial service to Spc. Donald Lee Nichols. I wonder how many readers noticed the picture of Spc. Aaron McNew, who spoke at the service. On each of his shoulders was a 34th Division (Red Bull) patch. In one week, we lost three citizen soldiers wearing this patch, and how many more were wounded?
On March 28, I asked that a commemorative stamp be issued to honor these citizen soldiers. Again, I request your help. Visit www.TheRedBulls.net to view the story. Write the Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee, c/o Stamp Development, U.S. Postal Service, 475 L'Enfant Plaza SW, Room 3300, Washington, D.C. 20260-3501, asking to have a stamp issued to honor these many servicemen and women who have served this nation for more than 100 years.
