It’s always encouraging to see our community invest in recovery and behavioral health services. Every step forward helps more individuals and families realize progress.
There’s been recent attention on new treatment options in Cedar Rapids, and while it’s great to see continued investment in recovery, it’s important that our community also knows the full story.
Accessible, compassionate, and comprehensive substance use treatment has long existed right here in Cedar Rapids.
Area Substance Abuse Council has served Eastern Iowa for 47 years, providing outpatient and residential treatment, recovery services and prevention programs. Last year alone, ASAC served more than 3,200 patients through treatment from across Iowa, helping individuals and families rebuild their lives without leaving their community for care.
We serve a seven-county region, allowing for seamless transitions and continuity of care. When individuals come to one of our residential programs, they are supported not just in treatment, but when they return home. This keeps people connected to their families and support systems—everything that matters.
We collaborate with health systems, schools, employers, and local organizations. Because lasting recovery takes a community, not just a facility. At ASAC, we improve lives and change narratives.
ASAC has walked alongside this community through change, challenge, and renewal. We’ll continue to do so. Because while recovery in Cedar Rapids isn’t new, it remains as vital as ever.
