Reconsider if voting for Branstad
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Oct. 5, 2010 12:30 am
Those of you considering voting for Terry Branstad should consider this: Gov. Chet Culver did not cause the recession. And he is doing exactly what the state needs to do to come out of it with I-JOBS. Branstad cannot take Iowa back to the good old days of the 1980s. The current version of the Republican party (think Tea Party movement) is who Branstad would be answerable to, and they are not your father's GOP.
Nationally, the GOP has vowed to privatize Social Security, continue tax cuts for the wealthy and companies that ship jobs overseas, and repeal the health care bill that allows your child to stay on your policy until age 26, prevents insurance companies from dropping you if you are sick and bans them from denying coverage for a pre-existing condition.
Let's put it in “D” to go forward, not “R” to go backward.
