Recent snow brought out best in motorists

During our first accumulating snow event of the season, I witnessed something in the greater Cedar Rapids/Marion area that was at least as refreshing as it was rare to see.
What I saw: Motorists in their Friday evening commute acting courteously, with patience and being generous toward one another on Cedar Rapids and Marion city streets.
People were being cautious and, while a bit tense over conditions getting slick, they were smiling at one another while waiting for the other person to make his or her way through an intersection before going themselves.
Imagine if we all acted this way toward one another every day.
