Really, City Council? I very much doubt it

Back when the speed cameras were being discussed, everything written in The Gazette and said at the meeting concentrated on the terrible problem concerning people running stoplights and stop signs. Not a word about speed traps.
The charter was given to monitor traffic lights and stop signs, and since there are a limited number of cameras available, all traffic lights and stop signs should be photogenic before speed traps were installed. As opposed to traffic cameras, photo cameras are oblivious to road conditions. There is a difference between strict adherence to speed limits in crowded or poor road conditions and whistling along on a deserted or nearly deserted highway in good conditions. There are extenuating factors, or why else would police and sometimes emergency vehicles speed without lights flashing or sirens?
The sneaking in of the speed traps and the caving in to closing Second Avenue SE, after promising due diligence, leads me to doubt anything the City Council says.
