Reader wonders if it all adds up

There are four images from television news that stick in my mind. First, the scene inside the Kremlin the morning after the 2016 presidential election results were announced. Smiles, laughter, applause and high-fives abounded among the leaders.

Second, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin standing side-by-side after their private meeting in Helsinki, and the 'whipped puppy dog” look on Trump's face.

Third, the shot of a large Russian military bomber landing in Caracas, Venezuela.

Fourth, Putin's response one day after our president tore up the decades-old missile disarmament treaty.

By negating this treaty, Trump gave Putin a very profound moment to become larger and more powerful to his followers. One can only imagine the disappointment of the Russian people who long for more democracy and freedom. The twist to more fear of the United States and Putin's desire to make Russia great again have been given a helping hand forward by Trump's actions.
