Reader misses Mallard Fillmore

To the editor:
I am very, very disappointed in The Gazette's decision to discontinue the comic strip 'Mallard Fillmore”. This action goes directly against the very foundation of freedom of speech. When contacted, The Gazette representative stated the reason for removal was due to a number of people complaining about the strips content. For shame! This is an example of a few limiting and controlling opposing views, thoughts and debate, which leads to a very slippery slope for everyone. I don't always agree with the letters to the editor writers, opinion writers or The Gazette's editorials and board's views; however, I appreciate and welcome the opportunity to read similar and opposing views. As a result, I am forced to exercise one of my rights and after 30 years am discontinuing my subscription to The Gazette until Mallard is reinstated.
