To the editor:
Climate change! Climate change! Climate change! Science seeks to explain all these, but fails to see the purposes of God and the judgments that are about to fall upon a doomed world. The restraining spirit of God is now being withdrawn from the world. Hurricanes, storms, tempest, fire and flood, disasters by sea and land, follow each other in quick succession. The signs thickening around us, telling of the new approach of the son of God.
In Psalm 119; 126 'It is time for thee, Lord, to work: for they have made void thy law.” Instead of God's standard of righteousness, men have erected a standard of their own. Pouring contempt upon God's law, men threw off restraint, and depravity is the result.
The first four of the Ten Commandments relate to man's worship of God, and government has no jurisdiction, recognition, or authority to control. The last six pertain to man's relationship to man. The civil government has the responsibility (see Romans Chapter 13) to maintain the restraints that keep man civil toward his fellow man. Thus, the issue of homosexual marriage is an issue in which the government has a responsibility as well as accountability to exercise civil authority to define and regulate, but only on a civil basis. Even though all areas of civility between mankind and his neighbor have moral implications and spiritual issues involved, the government has nothing to do with the moral side of the question.
