To the editor:
The Christmas issue of The Gazette had a row of red poinsettias across the top of the front page which was lovely. Though I had hoped for some mention of Christmas, such as a manger scene, I was delighted to see the full page ad on Page 5 by the companies who sponsored it, including Hobby Lobby and Mardel Stores.
What an amazingly simple, yet profound, likeness of Joseph in his carpenter shop with the young child, Jesus, playing with spikes, much like the ones He would have to experience later on the cross. It brought tears to my eyes as it reminded me again of the price God paid by sending His son to this earth for us.
Joseph is often the forgotten one as the account of the first Christmas is told, and yet, he was chosen by God who sent His messenger angel, Gabriel, to him and entrusted Joseph to raise His son as his earthly father.
Thank you so much for this incredible ad. I have put it on my refrigerator as a reminder of this holy season.
