Reader: GOP has created a monster

Like a modern day version of Mary Shelley's mad scientist, the GOP has managed to create its own monster.

Soon he will escape the la-bore-a-tory to be foisted upon the planet and wreak havoc. If his stated policies are enacted, glacial melting will increase and air quality will decrease. The economy will head toward an eventual recession again as a preponderance of financial experts have stated. Women will have to fight to make decisions about their own bodies. African Americans, Native Americans, Hispanics, LBGTQ folks, Middle Easterners and pretty much anyone who is not an older white male also will have to fight for their rights as they are likely to be eroded by a new, even farther right Supreme Court. Millions of people will have their health insurance - and therefore their health care - ripped away with no viable alternative. These outrages will only be the tip of the iceberg because of a complicit, heavily gerrymandered U.S. House and a Senate that is ready to rubber stamp the agenda of a person that only months ago many of its members derisively called a charlatan.

The GOP needs to remember, however, that when we village peasants eventually come for this brutish bully with metaphoric torches and pitch forks, he will run to hide and shelter in your castle. It is the place of his creation. When we come for him we also will come for you, at the ballot box!
