Reader appalled by O’Malley’s viewpoints

To the editor:
On Jan. 9, presidential hopeful Martin O'Malley stages a 'news conference” outside a gun show at Hawkeye Downs ('O'Malley uses Iowa gun show to call for reforms,” Jan. 9).
Among other things, he states that if you take a tour around inside you will probably see why ISIS says it is the safest place to buy combat assault weapons.
O'Malley, however, declined the offer, by the promoter, of a tour around the inside to speak directly to the dealers and patrons in attendance. Had he of done so, he would have discovered that federal, state and local laws all are adhered to. The location a dealer is working is considered a satellite location to his/her brick and mortar business. It is even made more egregious that he apparently knows even less about the law and gun shows than ISIS does. His refusal to come in, take a tour and talk to real people is appalling, in that he would rather spew myth, distortions and lies than to discover the truth.
