Re-elect Hogg to Iowa Senate
Dave Higdon
Oct. 7, 2014 1:00 am
I lend my support to the candidacy of Sen. Rob Hogg to be returned to the Iowa Senate. Hogg has worked for the city of Cedar Rapids and the surrounding area, as well as for the State of Iowa and our future. He has worked toward establishing renewable energy through wind and solar power as a means of lessening our dependency on fossil fuels.
When the flood hit Cedar Rapids in 2008 he began a campaign to get state aid to help the recovery. He brought legislators to Cedar Rapids to talk with businessmen and residents who suffered from flood damage. His efforts paid off and we have received help from the state legislature. His concern for flooding has led him to spend time working on water management in order that there would not be so much runoff.
When a restructuring of the mental health program in our state caused the closing of Abbe Center and the cut of funds for mental health, especially the funds needed for the transition into the new system, Hogg led a bipartisan effort to provide the funds for this transition. The legislators responded with funds that were later cut by the governor.
I urge you to vote to re-elect Hogg.
