Railroad is helping with unemployment
Jan. 4, 2010 11:49 pm
In response to the Dec. 27 letter by Curtis Jasa about doing business in Cedar Rapids and the pollution of the air and water by corporations: Does he think the railroad hauls their products for free? The money being hauled out of Cedar Rapids is a product that has provided a lot of employment for people.
The money paid to the CEOs is a large amount, but most of them work hard to keep the plants open and make a profit so the employees' pay checks are a living wage.
He also talks about the “polluters” living out of state. I am glad that people don't have to live in the state where they are employed or a lot of Iowans would be out of work.
