Questions regarding detainees, smoking ban
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Dec. 19, 2009 11:20 pm
1. If you close Guantanamo and move the terrorist detainees to Illinois, are you closing Guantanamo or creating Guantanamo North?
2. If the president and U.S. Attorney General tell you don't worry we will get a conviction in a civilian court, aren't they assuming they're guilty in a country where you are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty?
3. If they were captured on a battlefield or in a city attempting to blow up, kill, mutilate, or otherwise do harm to the U.S., are they not an enemy to be tried in a military court?
And last, focusing on the homefront:
4. The government has determined that secondhand smoke is extremely dangerous to our health unless it is collecting tax revenue and retirees pensions in the casinos. JEL (Just Eliminate Lies), how many cities are wiped out in the casinos every day? So you want the government to run your health care? I wonder who they will protect and what decisions they will make then?
