Question the objectives of Humane Society
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Sep. 13, 2009 12:22 am
On Sept. 3, the co-directors and several staff members of Cedar Valley Humane Society were terminated without warning, good cause or foresight.
I have been a faithful volunteer at CVHS since the flood of 2008. During this time, I have witnessed nothing but professionalism, compassion and dedication from the co-directors and staff. These folks worked for a pittance for one common goal; the welfare of these beautiful creatures they were charged with. Each one of them would work tirelessly to make sure each cat was fed, each dog was walked and each animal was loved. These folks were the voice of the animals - and now the community and volunteers need to be the voice of the wrongly terminated directors and staff.
I question the goals and objectives of this board, and so should the community. This board needs to be held accountable for its actions. This board needs to lay out its plan for the future for all to see. It needs to be transparent with the public, the donors, the volunteers and the staff.
This board has yet to communicate a clear plan of action to the volunteers. Volunteers are the Cedar Valley Humane Society.
We share the same goal - trying to find homes for all the animals that come through the doors of CVHS. Please put animal welfare above egos and personal agendas.
