Put your phones away while driving

Wake up, tech generation! The prevalence of drivers using hand-held electronic devices has not decreased, by my observations, since passage of new laws governing their use. This is a serious safety issue for all people on the road.

Texting and talking on phones is the drunken driving of the 21st century. In most cases, the distracted user of electronic devices is more dangerous than an impaired driver just over the legal limit. It took tough laws to reduce the incidence of drunken driving, and we need tough laws on the use of electronic devices.

Driving is not a right, and texting and talking on a hand-held phone is not a right. Please put the safety of yourself and others over personal convenience. Your fast-paced life may come to a screeching halt in a way you don't want.
